I recently installed Linux on my (previously) Windows PC. After about two months of usage and find a distro I liked, I ended up switching back to Windows. again. Here’s why.
First of all, compatibility. Linux is getting really good at compatibility, but still doesn’t support games like Fortnite or Apex Legends, which is one reason why I came back to windows.
Another reason I just can’t stick around with Linux is that all the performance claims about CachyOS and the distros I’ve tried don’t really matter when you have performative enough specs to stay at VSync.
Finally, it’s just that.. it’s not really necessary. I don’t NEED Linux because I don’t have a potato PC, I have a good enough PC to run windows comfortably.
So yeah, short article, but that’s because it’s also just a short answer. If I don’t need Linux and the games I play aren’t supported, then why stick around with it when I could have Windows, be able to run it and also play the games I want.
But I will say, the Linux experience is a bit better visually, just not better for me in the long run.
You can also just run Windows without ever touching a terminal or PowerShell, which makes it a bit more seamless.
There are still many reasons to like Linux, and this isn’t an “I hate Linux” rant. It’s simply just me explaining why I don’t use it on my desktop PC.
P.S. I still use it on potato laptops!
