How to Install Roblox on Linux with Sober

We all know that Linux has some compatibility issues with games that use anti cheats, and some games that just straight up hate Linux.

Roblox isn’t one of the games that hates Linux, they just focus more on the operating systems that dominate market share and on operating systems that can easily support their Hyperion anti-cheat. It’s more of a business decision rather than an “ew, linux” decision, and it makes sense.

But don’t worry, because the Linux community has stepped in. They haven’t quite found a way to install Fortnite yet, but Roblox is supported with a third-party extension.

This extension is called Sober.

On virtually all Linux distributions, you can install Flathub and install Sober on it.

Simply install Flatpak for your distribution, following the instructions, and add the Flathub repository (flatpak remote-add –if-not-exists flathub https://dl.flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo)

Keep in mind that when you install Sober, you are at risk of getting moderated because it is not 100% supported by Roblox, but this is with most emulators. I’ve used it for a while and I haven’t gotten banned yet.

See installation instructions: https://sober.vinegarhq.org/

Once you’ve installed it, simply log in and play! The developer is also active for support if you encounter any issues.

Happy Linux Robloxing!
